Vintage scarves have value, especially designer labels such as Lanvin, Gucci, Christian Dior, and Hermès. When shopping for vintage scarves pay special attention to the fabric, as silk was used for better scarves just like today.
Now that you have found your lovely, vintage scarf you will probably be putting it to good use, knotting it around your neck, draping it across your shoulders, looping it round your waist or tying it to your handbag. If you need some good ideas check out this

To keep your scarf in mint condition here are some recommendations for cleaning and storage of your vintage silk scarf.
1-Clear some space. Install large, rounded hooks or hang accessory rings in your closet. Proper storage prevents snags and minimizes wrinkles, especially on delicate scarves.
2-Just like your skin, avoid exposing silk scarves to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. The UV rays might discolor the scarves.
3-Chemicals to avoid-chlorine or alcohol. They wreck havoc on silk.
4-Clean your scarves before you put them away for storage. You may hand wash your regular silk scarves using a gentle laundry detergent formulated for fine linens and cold water. After rinsing, lay the wet scarf on a clean towel. Roll up the towel to absorb excess water.
5-Never use dryer! Air-dry your silk scarves on a mesh drying rack.
6-On the lowest setting, iron the scarf while it is still slightly damp. You may lay a towel on top to prevent scorching. Always iron the silk scarf on its dull color side. Or use a steamer.
7-Gently fold scarves and store them in linen boxes or breathable containers. Line the box with acid-free tissue paper for long-term storage. Of course, you may also store designer scarves in their original boxes.
